Totally not what I expected. Great social commentary, would see again.

Sorry to Bother You is a movie worth watching; possibly even a movie worth buying a theater ticket for. The fantastical elements are really entertaining, but it still leaves behind the feeling that the viewer should be understanding some underlying message.

I don't know where to begin on how to unpack this film . The film slides between reality and fantasy almost seamlessly, well until the end where it makes a hard left off of a cliff. The movie had a LOT of metaphors & visual symbolism strewn in between high brow humor. From reality TV distracting from actual news to feminism, unethical corporations, politics, class "caste" systems, unions, racism & even genetic modification. There was a ton of African symbolism.The hard "left" crossed into fiction with heavy emphasis on genetic engineering & it got pretty weird almost too artsy.

This movie was nothing like I thought it would be. I thought it would be a light hearted comedy but it wasn'tThe first part of the movie is really good - the acting is great, the script is hilarious, the concept is solid. Then you get to the turning point in the movie where Cassius attends a party at Lift's mansion. That's were you lost me.The "Equine-sapian" people were too much for me.Plus there was a lot of profanity and sexual situations in this movie - a bit too much for my taste.
