I enjoyed this movie, not sure about the martian analogy.

the movie is demotivating and degrading,the absence of parental guidance and law enforcement, allowed the youth to live in their own distorted world of survival. The movie overplayed the reality of stealing,cursing,and public display of drugs and alcohol by the youth, led my wife and me to leave early in disgust. Definitely not a family movie.
