Great to see a real ADULT movie. And it has been a good year for real discussions of religion in movies too. When I saw the first poster for this movie I immediately read the book in preparation because it looked like something where there might be some differences. Turns out it's a fairly faithful (pardon the pun) adaptation. I've always liked these two actors and it was fun to watch them play off each other even during the rough times.

I really enjoyed Midwinter Break. It is an honest and beautiful film about life changes.

Beautiful. The actors were amazing. I cried several times and likely would have broken down sobbing if I hadn’t been in public during the part where she finds out the nuns had left during the 70’s. I connected with her. Also the call where her only child didn’t pick up the phone on Christmas Day. I felt that hurt too. This is a take your mom to the movie, then hug her tight, and tell her you love her. My ex was an alcoholic too. “I hate myself more” was something he’s said as well. So so good. So beautiful. Very heavy on the emotions.
