Solid action movie with a badass female lead

One of the better video game movies, but still leaves much to be desired.

Pretty good movie, I enjoyed the action but script was lacking depth. Bad guy could be more "bad" and some character relationships could have been expanded on. Maybe those relationships are being saved for a possible future sequel? Some good scenes were present that stayed true to the franchise, which was a nice touch. Overall, I enjoyed it still. Would rate 3.5 instead of 3 if I could.

It is a gritty take on the character of Lara Croft. Alicia Vikander gave a grounded yet appealing performance and the action set pieces were spectacular. There were many cliche'd moments and the relationship between Lara and the boat captain was not believable. Alicia did well but is no Angelie Jolie. I would rate the movie 2.5 out of 5. My 14-year old daughter gave it a 7 out of 10.
