Gripping story. A few problems following the time line of flashbacks. Outstanding acting.

This film is authentic. As such, it is hard to watch, just as the detention center at Guantánamo is too hard to live. It must have driven many crazy and many to suicide. The people depicted in the film, the lawyers on both sides of the habeas case, the judge but most of all Mr. Slahi demonstrate a nobility that makes the viewer feel deep shame for our country and a humbling admiration for Mr. Slahi who managed to live through it with his dignity intact. That is the story. And the film shows itself worthy of the story it presents--in script, production values and great acting. I will recommend it to everyone I see. I consider it urgent that everyone see it.

Not only is the story compelling and heartbreaking,, but the film is a true work of art.

I had read the book "Guantanamo Diary" back when it was first published and was looking forward to seeing Slahi's written words (and in many cases redacted) translated into a movie. It was so good to see the whole story visualized as I had wondered (before seeing the movie) how it could possibly be made into that whole story. It succeeded and now, I hope that this movie will open the eyes of more people who hadn't read the book to the horrors of "Gitmo" and other sites and perhaps put more pressure on our government (as well as others) to close it and the other sites down for good. The actors chosen to represent those who have lived "it" were superb--well done! Thanks for allowing me to view this movie. I hope that it does well and I will certainly get the word out to my friends to go see it whenever and however they can.
