great story. had it all. action, comedy, tragedy, love, and faith.

I really enjoyed the movie. I really loved the story line of being true to yourself and your morals even when it could mean your freedom. I love Vince Vaugh but he was not believable in his role. Oh well.. can't win em all (:

Wonderful exceptional film. Great screenplay, acting, cast, cinematography. The film depicted that period of history in a truthful way; contrasting the innocence of youth with the hell of war while maintaining and showing the strength of the human character. Great filmmaking by Mel - 0scar all the way!

I enjoyed the movie. The first half of the movie was done well showing how the main character progressed. The war enactment was by far the best I have seen done. Very realistic. I teared up a few times. The only part of the movie that was out of place for me was the beheading of the Japanese guy. Didn't fit in to display their sacrifice.
