It seems like Stephen King just came up with a bunch of creepy scenes and stuck them together without regard for how it fits together as a whole. Feels like a bunch of cliches, even if many of the scare scenes are well-executed.

The dialogue was at times funny. I felt there were several plot holes that were overlooked and a lot of the actions of the characters were forced. I understand you have to keep the story moving forward, and smart people don't make good horror film characters these days, but having people take risks that no sane person would ever do just to get a scare took away from the theater experience.

Refreshingly realistic young adult language along with some of the bully violence. Decent cinematography and lighting, although some scenes were too dark. Great sound design. Music score was over sentimental at some points. Got sick of the seemingly never ending, ending. Tired old single everyone out in the haunted house and then kill the immortal antagonist with conventional weapons conclusion.
