Very good movie, Michael B Jordan is an amazing actor

Pretty good movie. I like that the trailer didn’t give away that it was a vampire movie. Was a cool surprise.

Ambitiously creative. Loved each new element added to the film. Story has so many relatable aspects to it. A solid story and character representation

I was entertained by the film, but I probably would not see it again. The first half was a period piece (and had a bit of the Blues Brothers getting-the-band-back feel) and then without much warning it becomes a vampire movie. It wants to be like Django Unchained but misses the mark. Who is the hero? Smoke or Stack? Are we supposed to root for one or both? And the ending— different afterlife outcomes for both, with their very different women (the spiritual traditional dark skinned mother of Elijah) or the drop of black blood white Mary. Who are the sinners?
