It was fun to watch, but it seemed like all the money was spent on special effects, leaving nothing left to spend on writing a decent script. The actors did their best to make up for that, but ultimately it was just another mediocre sci-fi film.

Eh...it was ok - I am not such a scifi/action fan, so take all that with a grain of salt.

Why do all the aliens look like this in all of these kinds of movies? Thought acting wasn't so hot either but it was fine.

It was a pretty conventional invading aliens film, with one twist. The production values were good though. I would recommend for home viewing if you want something mindless to watch after work or on the weekend.
