Diablo Cody's brilliant sense of humor really shines though via Mamie Gummer in this one. Streep needlessly once again shows she can do anything... Jonathan Demme shows he should stick to making music documentaries..- Predictable plot. Some contrived character quirks. Cringe-y eyeroll-y cliche drama. + Excellent chemistry. Creative comedic moments. A couple great cover songs.

Uneven but more good than bad.The film improves in the later scenes, as the stereotypes become human beings.
