Thought the movie starting out with the child dieing with know idea why she died was terrible . the movie would have better if it hadn't have started the way id did for starters . I did like some parts of , like the boy had made a friend online and feel in love with her . But other than that . Them movie really didn't make since and was not a very good movie . I was disappointed !!!

The plot was interesting but the movie was boring and dull. The main character was adorable and very believable.The movie was cast perfectly.

I would not recommend to friends.

Spoiler alert** I do not recommend this movie especially to young viewing audiences. Below is why, but it does give away some of the premise of the movie.......While the movie towards the end was very well done, the beginning was awkward and set me up to be irritated throughout the movie. A few minor comments were very unsettling as sexual undertones and suppression of women which I think many women will pick up on and not be happy about it. If you have young boys and girls and are concerned about media messaging, I would not recommend this movie. Subliminal messaging like this is the exact messaging we want to change for young women, even if it is "just a movie".The movie starts out with 6 astronauts headed to mars for a 4 year project: 5 male and only one female. During the first two months of travel it is found out that the female is pregnant. The other male astronauts scowl and make faces at each other once they suspect why she is throwing up on the space ship. Ok, some compassion would be nice but this alone doesn't really play into any of it until the other pieces of the movie emerge. The first scene that caught me immediately is when the developer of the space project says that the female astronaut was "irresponsible" for getting pregnant..... To me it implied that a female having sex before the mission was not acceptable whereas a male doing the same thing would not have even been a mention, and the fact that she became pregnant has nothing to do with being irresponsible! Many women are very responsible and still become pregnant when protection fails. There is nothing irresponsible about that! And to be pointed out in such a way as he yelled it, immediately set me off guard.Later when the boy is explaining to his girlfriend that he killed his mother (she died in childbirth.) She corrects him that it was not his fault, then he states that his mother "made a mistake" by getting pregnant with him..... His mother did not make a mistake, and implies to women that having sex is a mistake, and having a child is a mistake especially if you have a career. It is just something that happened, not a mistake. If anything both adults are responsible, but still is not a mistake, it is part of life that women end up being held most responsible and shamed for if not in a perfect situation. She could have resolved the issue and made everyone around her happy, the project go on as planned, if she had just had an abortion, but then there would be no story.And then we come back to the five men astronauts and one women astronaut. We find out the the developer is the father. So she had sex with him before leaving on the mission. One token female on the mission, implies that she had to "sleep with the boss" to get the job. And he never admits it until the very end. The same man that called her "irresponsible" for getting pregnant.Such misogynistic undertones in this movie. They do throw token comments at the end about the mother being brave and courageous but it was so insincere and forced; I left really irritated. I can't imagine that a woman wrote or collaborated on this movie at all.The good thing is I don't think any of this was intentional and there are good parts to the movie, but it is just the world these men see and see no harm in continuing the sterotypes and messaging to women. This is the danger of writing a movie that has to do with women but not collaborating with them (I am assuming.) It is a shame because there are really cute parts to the movie but I cannot recommend it as it is being distributed, unless specific parts were edited for our youth to see.Some things that could change to make a huge improvement:At the very least:1. Edit out the "irresponsible comment"2. Edit out the "mistake comment"If possible:Change the mission opening scene with Kendra as one of the initial astronauts or image her in or another female (so there are 2 females. Ratio feels better and not just the one female that slept with the boss.) She doesn't have to appear on the ship (but would be nice shown comforting Sarah) or in the operating room, no one is invested in characters at this point or know who is where. That is my two cents.
