I really enjoyed this film - it was funny, moving, action packed, and really well acted. I think the Manchester Guardian’s review was spot on. This is a biopic and has way too much ground to cover to do the subject true justice so it shows what Harriet Tubman was like - her courage, her ability to learn quickly, how inspiring she was, her love of her family... it showed how brutal slavery was without showing the actual violence but the scars each person wore. I highly recommend the film.

''Harriet'' critique by Henry WahbeOne word: BRAVO...B for bravery, R for resilience, A for authenticity, V for victory and O for outstanding! This is how I feel, about both this movie and the hero Harriet Tubman! This outstanding biographical masterpiece, directed by Kasi Lemmons (Silence of the Lambs, Candyman, Gridlock etc) and starring Cynthia Erivo as Harriet Tubman, is a story about both, triumph of the will and triumph of the spirit. Erivo gives an outstanding performance, along with the rest of a very professional cast. I was one of the lucky people to attend the premier. This is by
