It was a painful story to tell, but very realistically done. Tahar Rahim was astounding. I thought all of the main actors were great in their roles. Jodie Foster was exceptional as always, and Benedict Cumberbatch really nailed that southern accent! Happy to see Zachary Levi play a serious role for a change, even though it was small part. I want to read the book “Guantanamo Diaries” now!

I found the story very informative and compelling. Kevin MacDonald's directing enables you to experience Mohamedou Ould Salahi isolation and pain by putting you in the prison with him and only permitting you to see what he sees, from inside the small rectangular prisoner's cell to the high fenced outdoor cube with no ocean view where prisoners have outdoor time, creating some very powerful and unsettling moments. By the same token his direction also gives you a sense of Nancy Hollander's isolation as the outcast attorney who is willing to defend Mohamedou Ould Salahi. Tahar Rahim's performance as Mohamedou Ould Salahi is Oscar worthy, for that matter so is the director and his movie.
