I would only recommend if you had context of the movie it was based on, The Room, which enhances the experience. I think this movie needs a little more help in conveying “why” the other movie was so bad because Franco made it too much about Tommy Wiseau the actor, and the worst part of The Room was the directing and editing. Overall I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have seen The Room.

It gave a better perspective of the Making of the movie The Room

I truly enjoyed this movie. I found the story compelling and enjoyed the acting. However, the shaky camera work at the beginning (even though I think it was probably meant to mimic the filming quality of “The Room”) was really annoying. Also, I don’t think someone who had not seen “The Room” would enjoy this movie, so I would only recommend it to people who have seen “The Room”.

Hilarious to anyone who has seen The Room. I’m not sure how it would come off to someone who hasn’t. James Franco does a great job as Tommy Wiseau. Dave Franco is all wrong for Greg Sestero. His performance was not good, even distracting at times. Most distracting was that godawful beard. If he weren’t the director’s brother, no one would’ve cast him in role. 3/5
