Riz Ahmed continues to give moving performances that illustrate his mastery as an actor. I loved the insight into a community that sits at an intersection of identity (deafness and addiction) that I had not considered before. And the sound mixing was amazing.

I absolutely LOVED this film. At first, I was unsure....thinking it would be all about punk rock/ heavy metal. I had not red the description before hand.\rThe depth of feelings, portrayed by the main character, through his journey through the world of deafness, to then having surgery to again hear again, was simply amazing and quite moving. \rI had heard that people with cochlear implants, were unable to weed out of the background noise. The presentation of this was amazing!\rAfter realizing his girlfriend had chosen to stay with her rich Dad, it sealed the deal, that he would remain deaf

The acting, script, direction and sound were wonderful! The film felt real, as if the audience became the voyeur, watching how the life of the main character enfolds.

I like The Sound of Metal because it explores a person who looses his hearing and has to learn how to communicate with others using sign language. Everybody in his life had to adapt to his hearing loss, and cope with the consequences later. Ruben had to absorb the soundsbin his environment later on by removing his hearing aid. I believe Ruben understands what Joe was telling him: sit down somewhere and feel the place around you. In life we as a people feel clustered so we don't know how to let go of our problems. The solution is to block out all the noise for a minute and let your spirit heal.
