It was predictable, but a good summer movie. Just enough humor to keep me entertained.

Overall this film was successful. It had an impact, a heart, and a heroic end. I love seeing male African American actors as intelligent, strong, and especially smart. They were not the usual suspects in this film. Chris Pratt was enhanced by external relationships that made him more layered. I would have loved to have seen him be more complicated. I think there were many elements to this film that would make it not plausible before the main character even makes his first jump. The look, sounds, and ship of the creatures were unimaginative. The story overall has many holes with unanswered ?'s.
