Decent action flick. It felt like it couldn't decide what genre it wanted to be. There was a mash-up of several common tropes, and they weren't really addressed or given any depth or plot development. Decent entertainment for a weeknight.

There was some good action, but very cliché relationships and plot development. The build was also too slow.

I would recommend this movie after asking if they liked action films first. I, personally, am not a fan of the overly loud action films, where it's hard to hear the dialogue. This film did try more than others to have some sort of a plot but there wasn't anything original here. It had a nice family theme and the story of the monsters killing all of the humans seems like some sort of parallel to a virus, like Covid, unearthing and killing humanity. It was entertaining.

Like all sci-fi movies with time travel, the writers skip obvious logic flaws in order to tell the story they have devised. The movie picks up the old Vietnam war hero stuff with more father/son conflict that doesn't make a lot of sense. However, the action is interesting and the drama they devised kept the story moving along. The pacing was good and cinematography excellent. The bit about the importance of scientific knowledge was a nice touch. Casting was good. The score was a little overly dramatic - there were a couple of places where the music foreshadowed an attack, which detracted.
