The actors in the film were excellent. I found myself wondering if the mother was just living in some crazy, delusional world. We found, however, that the evil was in fact very real. I was a little confused about the end though. Was the son, that was touched by the evil, still possessed by it when they escaped? I thought he took a picture of the burning house, but it was a picture of him, with a evil hand near by. Once the evil possessed you, it took over and never let go right? So was the evil still in him, or when the evil died, did the evil just leave him?

Intricately woven piece of writing wherein you're never quite sure what is "real" and what is possibly the product of an unreliable protagonist's damaged brain. With 3 very fine principal actors, the film addresses generational trauma, hereditary mental illness, and the occult - with attendant protective spells and incantations - and does so while switching the narrative deftly between "She's crazy!" and "Wait, is that thing really there? Who can see it?". The uncertainty was delicious and left people talking afterward. Strongly recommend!

This is a great new take on the Hansel and Gretel story. Halle Berry did a fine job and much better when you compare her previous rules. The real stars of the movie are the young actors who brought their characters to life and made them so much more likable than expected. The ending Is what makes this film a true horror gem.
