Danielle Deadwyler (Oscar contender) shows the anger, courage and strength and leads the audience on an emotional journey no parent would ever want to encounter. Learned a lot more about American civil rights after seeing this film.

Although heartbreaking and deeply emotional, it was a story that needed to be told. The acting was excellent. It exposed white supremacy and the deep pain and fear it instilled in black southern communities. From such trauma, arose a courageous woman who stood bravely in the face of adversity. Her efforts changed history and forged a path toward civil change that will echo throughout history forever.

Danielle was amazing!!!! I knew the story going in so it was tense and very emotional for me. It was done so well. It’s a must see. The fact that Mamie really never got just for Emmett is hard to take. It’s very apropos for these times. I just recently saw documentary on the lynching postcards and it astounds me that in this country what have such flawed depraved people and a very complicated history. Thanks for presenting this story.
