enlightening!

This film make us think about what is really important in life. While I initially did not care for Ruben's attitude regarding his disability, I was gratifying how his deaf friends finally were able to get him to understand what was really important in life. In the end, he achieves peace with himself.

Sound Of Metal is an emotional look at loss. Not only does the protagonist lose his hearing but he also loses his sense of self. Riz Ahmed is compelling as someone coming to terms to his new circumstances. The sound design is quite clever in mimicking his experience of deafness.

I enjoyed this movie. It's nice to see Riz Ahmed in something new. I liked how the sound change seemed to correlate with what he was experiencing. It was very well done.
