Beautiful scenery, composition that I can't fault in any way. However, my friend and I left confused on the overall theme of the movie and the motivations of the characters. Several high-powered, high-conflict scenes occur and varying conclusions can be drawn from their actions. I spent quite a while talking with my friend about this movie and what Scorsese intended with this film.

Deeply disturbing, thoughtful film about how beliefs are shaped and rescinded under duress. Relevant today with ISIS, religious fanaticism, political propaganda.

Andrew Garfield nailed his performance as a Christian priest and is worthy of an Oscar nomination. If you love world religion history you're going to love this movie. I personally thought the movie was too slow and lengthy but the acting from Garfield, Driver and Neeson was deserving of the 4 stars despite the slow pace of the film.

Excellent and very interesting historically...the picture is breathtaking...
