It was beautiful and vulnerable, just like Mary. So great to hear her story.

The movie was great. I watched with my wife and teenage son and we all enjoyed it and learned a good deal from it, despite having varying levels of insight about her story already. The use of the animation and pictures of black children was strong. At the end, the only thing that seemed missing was some discussion about her other albums. There may have been a benefit in alluding more at the top of the film (beyond the title) that this was about the My Life album (even if it is just on screen text, like: "In 19XX, Mary J Blige released her second album...")
