Wasn’t the best but wasn’t the worst movie of the year

Not the worst movie, but not very good either.

The movie had a very unlikeable main character, and being an Asian American myself, I was also put off by his self centered demeanor, and his lack of respect for authority and others around him, even though he says that he has a deep respect for his culture and heritage, which I found very disingenuous. Although there were some parts I liked (his relationship with Eleanor was affecting, his emotional baggage of being the symbol for years of Asian heritage), the whole movie was trying too hard to be some type of hip-hop, urban sports film. Overall, I did not care for any of the characters.

I thought it was okay. A little rough and it should have been more about him than on his parents I thought.
