The film taught life principles about relationships, overcoming adversity, teamwork & courage. A mature audience can appreciate the context of the film. Younger audiences may not stay engaged throughout that entire film. It was also a bit predictable and drawn out. At one point it became obvious what the outcome would be.

A good story during the Ice Age about the survival and relationship between a boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee) crossing over to manhood and a wild animal (who will steal your heart) becoming a man’s best friend. Beautiful cinematography by Martin Gschlacht. Great acting by Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (GOT). The film was not rated when I viewed it, but I'm assuming it will be receiving PG-13 due to the survival scenes.
