On it's surface Molly's Game could be mistaken for a movie about a fallen Olympic hopeful that stumbles into running an illegal poker game, but if you dig deeper the movie is about so much more. The main character and narrator has an intelligent, sarcastic and sometimes crass wit that grabs the viewer from the beginning. It touches on what it's like to grow up with a parent that has high expectations, to have a successful career that abruptly comes to an end at a young age, and to be an intelligent and beautiful woman completely rebuilding a new career for herself. The movie touched on women's issues and the struggle of trying to build yourself from broken pieces without beating anyone over the head with the themes. Molly faces multiple failures and obstacles that others might have surrendered to, yet she finds a way to overcome and stay true to herself. The main character is a complicated, fascinating person, and I was totally enraptured with her and the story line throughout every piece of the movie. The way that the writers jump between current day, her childhood, and her rise to "Poker Princess" could have easily come across as confusing, but instead made the story come together in a cohesive yet suspenseful piece of art. I know absolutely nothing about skiing or poker, but I thoroughly enjoyed this film and will recommend it to my friends and family.

Sorkin dialogue so fun! Quick moving, good story.

Aaron Sorkin delivers an amazing script. Idris Elba commands the screen. Great story, great acting. Can’t wait to see again.
