I found Spoiler Alert to be an 'authentic' RomCom. The tropes that define the genre served as anchors for what was to come. I appreciated the film narrative's structure, a timeline that sufficiently built up the relationship and then created space for Kit's illness. The characters were rich and complimented one another, providing humour when needed. Sally Field and Bill Irwin warmed my heart. I cried a lot, I questioned mine and my loved one's humanity and what is important to me. My heart was beat after watching.

Predictable and sad but didn’t quite hit that deep.
