Absolutely Magnificent!!!

Great re-telling of a classic story! Filmed using actual 35mm film, and still set in 1960's NYC, this is a fantastic update of the original. And how wonderful it is to have national treasure Rita Moreno as an integral part of the film. Great singing and dancing, great acting and staging--a wonderful cinematic experience. The saddest part? Race relations haven't changed much in sixty years. See it!

They did a wonderful remake of West Side Story. The lead actors were perfect and both had fabulous singing voices. I now have Tonight, tonight stuck in my head.

Every second of every performance was entirely believable. Speilberg's direction was excellent, as is to be expected from a master of his calibre and Kaminski's photography was absolutely beautiful! I'm predicting now that both of them will be Oscar contenders, as well as the film. Bernstein's music and Sondheim's lyrics hold up well since it is set in the same period as the original.
