My husband and I loved it! Cast was excellent, and the Dorset countryside portrayed beautifully. We were especially impressed that Liza Carthy arranged and performed the music. We had just seen and heard her in person last month with her dad in Berkeley.

The acting was superb! I suppose it would appeal to women more than men, since it is a love story with many twists and turns, but my husband said he enjoyed it. As I was leaving the theatre tonight, I overheard others expressing their approval. I really believe the movie will do very well at the box office, and it is a welcome change from the proliferation of comic book heroes lately. Thx!!!

I liked the 4 main actors, especially Gabe Oak. I liked the setting in England and the clothing looked authentic. Striking scenes were when the new georgedog herded the sheep off of the cliff and when the soldier used the "blunt" sword near Bathsheba. My favorite was the last scene when the couple walks back toward the farm arm in arm.

The movie was not only well directed, musically impressive and artistically well done. But the actors did a fantastic job captivating the audience and making you care about them and their decisions. Their was one scene where some animals die that seemed very out of place and gruesome, which I did not enjoy. But overall, I was mesmerized by the movie and would reccomend it!
