Could not relate to characters or situations, though I tried because of the jazz and the integrated ensemble in the '50s. Turned it off when girl danced around record shop.

Movie is way to slow, too many scenes that are just boring and slow. Tessa Thompson gives a very good performance but the guy opposite her is not a very good actor and you can tell in their scenes together.

Terribly misogynistic, the portrayal of cheating in the name of love isn't great, not a fan of this at all.

This is a straight man's toxic fantasy, putting it in the past is lazy writing. Jazz was a cheap cover, but it did pull me in. I wish had been plot-relevant instead of getting fridged.\rCheating is fine if the main character does it, but it's shameful for others. Not communicating with, or lying to, your partner is "extraordinary love" instead of a major red flag.\rHaving the cousin lead marches is the cheapest way to date the film. The NAACP investigating the company was a decent way though! \rWhat on earth was with the constant face caressing? \rNeeded more jazz and less toxic relationships.
