Danny Boyle totally captured the weight of what it means for Trainspotting to have a 20 years later sequel. Suddenly, the "Choose Life" mockery doesn't feel like youthful rebellion anymore - more like Renton has become the punchline of his own joke. The way the characters were weaved back together into a present day reality felt natural without betting on nostalgia. In fact, the nostalgic bits in T2 end up re-evaluating the lightness of the original. T2 is deservedly weighty and intentional.

It holds up to the original, I already want to see it again.

Great movie! I loved the first one but even if you never saw the first one Danny Boyle did a great job setting up all the characters.

It was a well done follow up to the first movie. It maintained the surreal qualities and had a strong story line. The flashbacks helped to maintain the thread. Loved the character development of the four main protagonists, and the new story connected to the old story. All in all, I highly recommend this movie to the old and new fans.
