Loved the acting and the situation drew me in till half way through and then the story went a little off track. He became a model player in the camp in such short order. Some details about the reality of implants - can you just get them done in short order without a long work up? Where was the money going to come from in his plan to buy back the tour bus? Would she be ok with him coming back without notice? All these story points broke the authentic vibe set up in the first part. \rAnd the ending was too much up in the air.

We liked story line but felt it was uneven. Also we could not read many of the things that were written by Ruben or shown to him such as he Drs note after surgery.

There was quite a bit to like - the acting was strong; the way the deafness and partial/distorted hearing was shown in developing stages was illuminating; the bittersweet ending was appropriate.\r\rBut somehow, it still came off as preachy. Okay, you're deaf - you have to embrace it and give up on what used be; live a different life with different people. Why? Where is the support in that? It comes off as judgment and lacks empathy.\r\rAnd, really - is silence his best option? \r\rJust as a side note, the finances were glaringly implausible. The money raised didn't meet expenses.\r\r
