It is a very strong independent film. The people feel real, and while the story of the underdog has been told before, the unique quality of Boogie's life makes this story new. There are so many films that can push buttons, that can feel manipulative and turn the viewer off before the stage has been fully set. Boogie does not do this. Boogie is not afraid to bring all of the grit and grime of life, and set it right up against the desire of humans to become their personal best and find authentic love in the process. Bravo, for serving something more than Beef and Broccoli.

I live the diversity of characters, played by strong talented actors. Not normally a film I would have gone out of my way to see, but it will be one that I will be going out of my way to tell people about.

I think this movie does point out some of the issues that exist between us all as African Americans and other groups who suffer it just a bit differently.    We compete for being not enough at best , excluded by our  "strife  and mutual struggle".  We can’t just blame the white for people pitting us against each other because of our individual actions and our collective inaction. Asian persons should know their whiteness is conditional, and is temporal at best.
