Woody Harrelson was the comic relief. Without him, the movie would've been more of a drama than a comedy. I expected the movie to be funnier.

The Edge of Seventeen had some nice performances by Steinfeld and Harrelson, but much of the film reminded me of a season's worth of a television show condensed to feature length, hitting all the major points but missing the great character moments. Every once in a while the film touched upon something funny or poignant but not often enough to engage me.

Nice take on teen issues, but same plot line as most other films.

Mean girl without the clique.Edge of 17The confusion, awkardnesss and drama of adolescence wrapped up in one 17 yr old girl. A drama/comedy. Nadine was absolutely extreme and draining at times - made me want to go apologize to my own mom til I remembered that I was nothing like this cliche of a teenager - overly emotional neurotic and just a plain ole wrong know it all. It became irritating in parts. What balanced it was Hailee's looks, a genuinely pretty girl that was not hypersexualized; she looked like a girl.Woody Harrelson's character and Erwin were GREAT! Funny, dry, direct redirection. Loved them! I especially loved Erwin's awkwardness, great comic delivery and he's cute too! Kyra Sedgwick didn't really register. All in all, Nadine reminded me a little of Sadie from MTV's Awkward - bitchy, antagonistic, grating and unnecessary. I wanted to root for her AND strangle her."You're welcome."
