"The Mauritanian" was difficult to watch at times, and it also took some time to figure out who the key players were, even though I remember the 9/11 attacks on the WTC and all the people who died in the inferno of the Twin Towers. Despite the horror of 9/11, I felt sorry for Mohamedu's plight. The acting of Tahar Rahim - who plays Mohamedou - was incredible! I can see a nomination for Best Actor and also Best Picture in the offing!!!

The Mauritanian is a story that needs to be shared with the world. Although the original memoir was a NYT Bestseller, I'm sure there are many, like myself, who have know knowledge of Mohamedou Ould Slahi's story. Actors Jodie Foster, Tahar Rahim, Benedict Cumberbatch and Shailene Woodley did a phenomenal job in their roles.

It is a powerful, riveting, brutal story. The cinematography and acting were so perfect that I am not sure if I breathed throughout the film.

I really loved the film. It had great suspense, it told a story, and it spoke about justice, salvation, and redemption. It is not a conventional movie, it's almost theater. And it's up to the audience to make their own decision ans judgements.
