Movie is great, Kate Winslet steals the show. But the supporting cast is a big let down.

Movie was pretty good. Had a lot of twists and turns. Actors and actresses alike did a fantastic job portraying their roles. However, what surprised me the most was the amount of death in this movie, many that I found surprising. But after thinking about it, those deaths did help the storyline move forward so I guess it was alright. Definitely worth watching. Personally, I would watch it again :)

Dear Broadscreen,Thank for the invitation to the screening.As the film starts to develop, this new logic we are introduced to through this various episodic situations of the characters gives a great tone to the film that is sustained throughout the narrative. I'd definitely include The Dressmaker among the prestigious category of films like Delicatessen, the Cohen Brothers' films, and so on. This style was in accordance to my expectations on the trailer, and I was very glad for that...Although I really enjoyed the film, I must say at times it seemed as if it wanted to get approval from broader audiences by the romantic comedy construction...some scenes like the marriage proposal don't quite seem to be a part of the same film, as it does not the melodramatic resolution of the murder plot... However scenes which follow such "classical" moments do regain the film's general form and definitely make up for these few scenes.
