Flashy and trashy but falls flat especially at the end

More for art lovers than story tellers. Very beautiful but lacking any soul, just like the models in the movie.

This movie was visually arresting and boasted a fantastic score, but the film was structurally incoherent and nonsensical. I appreciated the film for being so carefully directed, but I did not think this film was well-made.

This is the third film I've seen from Nicolas Winding Refn and a few of his strengths definitely shined through on this film. The camera work, use on lighting, and score were great. I now see why it won best soundtrack at Cannes this year. While the above aspects of the film were extremely well done I believe the film lacks identity. Am I supposed to laugh, be disturbed or something else. Since Refn bounces between funny and serious I struggle to see exactly what he was going for, but maybe that's what he wanted. I love films that make me think "what am I watching" and I did that plenty of times throughout.
