Not sure the lead should have been played by Riz Ahmed? Although his acting was somewhat adequate, his overall persona did not seem to be a good match to this "intense" character. \r\rThe mimicking of his hearing issues throughout the film was at times a bit annoying, even though it was necessary to be able to relate to what the character was going through. \r\rThe people at the school for the deaf were obviously authentic and inspiring. \r\rOverall a pretty good, heartfelt script.

It was very slow. No real character development. Knew nothing about the characters until the end of the movie. The lead actor, Riz Ahmed, was very good but I didn't like the way it ended. I'm assuming he finally came to the point where he could just sit and do nothing.

I felt that this plot could have been taken so much deeper and further. I thought it was slow and though we saw growth in Ruben, there was little character development otherwise. What was interesting to me was keeping track of someone who lost their hearing as an adult and the challenges of communication when one can speak and see, yet not hear. I just thought the film could have been more...

I did not like having to reading what they were saying. I did not like the distorted talking and music otherwise his struggle with being deaf was good.
