Starting off as a coming of age story through family revelation for one character before becoming a road trip movie, Uncle Frank ends in heavy drama. The third act of the film feels like Frank is put through every possible ringer as the movie slides into This Is Where I Leave You territory.

I thought it was a great concept. A bit underacted, and some of the characters I wanted to be interested and connect with more, lacked depth. I am not a huge fan of feel good films. However, I felt like this deserved some happiness considering the amount of turmoil the protagonist endured throughout the film. Unfortunately the happiness occurred at a point in the film that made it somewhat unrealistic. Which is fine. Overall, I enjoyed the film as it was entertaining and evoked some emotions.
