It was great! Slightly formulaic at some plot points, but for the most part felt really fresh and fun and relatable. Hailey Stienfeld really surprised and impressed me with her acting, she was very good.

I thought that the film was mostly enjoyable with some interesting humor. It was well acted. I didn't particularly like the lead character. I though her craziness was a little too much even given that she was an unpopular teen and some of the relationships such at with her mother and brother seemed forced and not real. It didn't really contribute anything significant to the coming of age genre. I like Woody Haralllson's role. It was surprisingly low key and moving from him.

This was a movie about coming of age and the angst that accompanies it. Hailee Seinfeld is very convincing as the awkward teen whose best friend since childhood falls for her seemingly flawless older brother. Kyra Sedgwick is a mother on the verge of collapse following the untimely demise of her husband. Woody Harrelson stole the show as the high school teacher the young teenage girl leans on for support and guidance. He provides insightful and witty tidbits that often provide the necessary comic relief.
