Promising Young Woman presents a topic that is perceived as uncomfortable by most of society and is not afraid to let you experience the grief and guilt that Cassie is attempting to accept. It perfectly captures what it is like to not only be sexually assaulted or to know a woman who was sexually assaulted, but what it is to grieve, expirience survivors guilt and attempt to reach closure.

It consistently pushed me to the edge but never threw me over. It was surgical in the way it managed my emotions throughout while also addressing subject matter that needs to be brought out into the open. The visual style and tone was pitch perfect for what it was trying to do. It is a film that will continue to be on my mind for a long time after watching it.

A powerful and unflinching expose about how our culture still supports men's violence against women and how these men are enabled by the patriarchal institutions that underpin our society. The scene at the end on the bed where the two men use every excuse to save their comfy lives reveals how truly evil they are.

The film gets a reaction out of you that consists of feeling uncomfortable, wanting to cheer on the main character, anger at the reality of how men can be so disgustingly cruel, and provokes an urge to start a conversation.
