The movie had a YA feel to it as the story is told from Jake's point of view instead of Roland's and while the action scenes were alright, the violence from the book is much more graphic. The mythology was broadly explained (of The Gunslinger(s), The Man in Black, Breakers, Taheen, Can-Toi, The Dark Tower, etc) and sadly did not leave me wanting to learn more. There's just wasn't enough time for the audience to connect and/or care about the characters. Oh, how I wish it could have been better!

I expected more from it. Didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Fun, short, and forgettable.

A thinly written movie that doesn't even try to adapt the depth and intrigue of its source material. The characters are very one note, the motivations for the villain are completely unclear, and the word "magic" is used any time something happening on screen needs to be justified or explained.
