It was a beautifully mentally twisted film with a soulful return to the human side of reality. Showing addition without drugs is like a horror movie without the monster; yet, masterfully accomplished by director Darius Marder. Riz Ahmed, Ruben, exposes the true meaning and feeling of an addiction. There is also a special rhythm to the construction and edit to the film, as the dependency on subtitles, struggle for sound, then the final surrender. This is a classic to dive into more than once.\r

Losing hearing can be difficult but it is definitely very bad for musicians. The movie is good overall but the story line is kind of predictable.

The story was interesting, and the actors played their parts well. I felt the struggles of Ruben as he came to the realization that he was deaf, and I was invested in following the the journey with him. I appreciated the ending- the acceptance, the peace he felt within himself, and him beginning to find himself so that he can redefine his role and move forward. The movie was touching, and one I would gladly recommend.
