It wasn't that funny. I was not onboard with story line or the characters. They were lying, selfish, dirty, nasty, killers. I don't like the wife choice of the Eddie Murphy chararacter. I did not like the overt profanity at the end of the movie. It was not funny. The only comedian that can pull off that kind of hard core profanity would be the late Richard Pryor. I did like that it had a happy ending. Another good point of the movie was that the sound effects were great! The car crashes, chases, slaps and punches were fantastic. This would be a feast for an audiophile.

Weak cast and plot

It’s OK! Not theater material but definitely great for a cozy night in at home. Funny and Entertaining. Some great action scene. Great characters cast. The Pickup? More like The Stickup — they robbed us of 2 hours… and we liked it.

Though I did laugh a few times, the overall arc of the story, the action and the way it was all assembled did not resonate with me. But then, I am likely a few steps or more outside the target demo ... of youthful folks with neither context for comparison nor interest in learning what superior films make "The Pickup" a waste of time. Disappointed that Murphy did not have much to work with -- wasted talent via the lackluster script. Even Davidson suffered in that the running gags he was enlisted to portray were edited in a way that made the humor nonsensical.
