My parents thought it was great!

Heartwarming story that would be improved if the young boy had a "backstory" that made it more believable that he could learn the technical aspects of singing so quickly. Beautifully shot and nice performances... and great music!Another note: The Mongrel promo reel was very well done, but the Chinook Theatre in Calgary had the volume very loud -- louder than the movie. Heard others complain.

The movie was really good, waiting in line was longer than expected, but overall the experience was good.

This was a wonderful film if you enjoy a story about a young boy's coming of age, his competitiveness within the new school system and the abuse by the adults for money and fame. Acting was uniformly top notch, the classic & hip hop tunes were well blended to juxtapose a teen's psychological milieu. This film won't make a lot of money but will be noted when awards season arrives.
