enjoyed it. good relatable teenage movie.

It was advertised more as a comedy but turned out to be much more dark and depressing.

I'm glad I saw this film. It gave me a lot to think about. I like the title and the photo in the ad. I think almost everyone could identify with one part or another(sibling rivalry/ favoritism, bullying, death of a parent, desperate newly single mother wanting to meet a new man, girl choosing the bad boy instead of the good one that likes her, unrequited love, etc.) I'm finding myself wanting to see the film again and recommend it when it's finished, but am hoping this is an unfinished test version. ( if it's being released on Nov. 18th, I guess it's the final version! Sorry). While I loved certain scenes(especially the beginning and end- the caterpillar scene and relationship development of the two friends,, Erwin's surprise mansion, the reconciliation of brother and sister in the end-, the surprise twists, how realistic some parts were, and the message, about friendships and relationships, I thought it was too long, dragged in spots, was a bit unbelievable or overdone, in some areas,and didn't have enough fun catchy music to liven it up, like the film Mall Rats, which was one of my favorites, ( I was expecting it to be more like that). I didn't like the overly overt sexual talk (I didn't think that seemed realistic) and that is what would keep me from recommending it to teenagers, but It left me wondering if that is how teens talk now and I am just out of touch generationally(gave me a lot to ponder). The casting was really good, as the four teens were gorgeous and played their parts excellently. Kyra Sedgewick as the needy selfish mother and Woody Harrelson as the teacher, that seemed like he was going to be a creep, but turned out to be decent, were good, even though i was cringing at how cliche I thought they were going to be(teacher sleeping with his student and needy mother turning her son into I momma's boy). I loved that the brother didn't dump his girlfriend when his mom tried to get him to. I think a lot of girls probably drop their beasties to run off and play beer pong with some cute boy, or sleep with the off limits guy, and as weird as this may sound, I could relate to the feelings a lot, even though I am out of that age range(I recently broke up with my best friend because she became a Trump fanatic, volunteers at his headquarters every day, and talks about him incessantly. I can't believe she would do that, knowing that I have a history of being wronged by him. By the way, I think more people would have attended the screening if it hadn't been competing with the debates last night). I liked that the film was told from a female perspective. I thought the relationship with nick taught an important lesson and was dead on, showing the different expectations of guys vs. girls and would want young girls to see it as a lesson. I thought that some of Erwin's awkwardness was overdone and I didn't think I could sit through another classroom scene of Nadine dropping in to see Woody Harrelson, but I guess that was needed in order to be surprised with the way things turned out, which was the best part. I think this film has real potential. I like the way you ran the screening and recruiting for it. I think that you probably are getting better feedback than the traditional test screenings that put people on the spot when they haven't had enough time to think about the films they just saw.
