It was funny. James Gunn did a good job.

It had a very strong third act. Cast had strong chemistry.

James Gunn making the DC version of Guardians of the Galaxy was both amazing and jarring. It didn’t feel like a sequel to Suicide Squad and the characters from the original film seemed to be put on the back burner in favor of the new characters. The great news is those new characters are a lot of fun! The jokes and action and gore are always coming at you at breakneck speed. Fun theater movie!

Fun enough, but it lacked the necessary emotionality or comic book idiosyncrasy for it to be elevated into some truly enthralling mayhem. The transitions are awkward, the humor is hit-and-miss, and the narrative is often undercut by the lack of genre material (and few character dynamics). Love ratcatcher 2 and king shark, but it doesn’t really know what to do with Harley Quinn. #ReleaseTheAyerCut
