The struggles of hearing lost are thought provoking.

It’s a good movie when you manage to sit through till the end, but the choice of metal music played at the beginning will put audience off to not continue watching especially when combined with the somewhat slow start

Although the movie was "slow" with little action, it provided insight into the development of Ruben, the main character. The viewer was able to gain insight into his ambivalence over his progressiveness deafness and how to deal with it. Should he live with it, become part of a supportive community that does not view deafness as a handicap and help others? Or...should he reject his deafness and seek to "conquer" it? We see both sides of Ruben's ambivalence and, finally, what appears to be his resolution...maybe. All in all, the film does a good job of presenting a difficult reality.
