The acting was well done and the use of Chinese traditions was real. The story started out good but as it developed it seemed disjointed. When it came to the ending, I had the impression that the studio ran out of money and it was forced y to o end the movie. It was very abrupt and not satisfying.

Even though it documents the real story of Boogie it is highly cliche and stereotypical which was a little sad to see. Great comeback story though.

I understand the struggle, as an immigrant, to find your place and fit in & I understand the pressure to please your family and honour the ancestors. Perhaps it was the editing, or maybe the language, but it just didn’t work for me. The mother was one pretty erratic in her support of Boogie. I also did not buy in to Boogies age. There’s no way he was 17. I did enjoy the actress who played the girlfriend though. I tried to get the message of the film but I shouldn’t need to try that hard to be entertained.
