This movie was fun all around. From the moment it opens one can hear the beat key for salsa music. Then the sights and sounds are an accurate depiction of life in Washington Heights, all the way down to “Mi Floridita” restaurant. I felt at home with the characters and could relate to their struggles. Seeing the racial diversity of Latinxs is beautiful! It was almost a utopian vision of who we are!

I wish they had kept “sunrise” but I loved it! The music translates perfectly to film and is a very moving story to watch

The movie itself was absolutely phenomenal. I'm a huge fan of the original show and while I missed some of the songs that were cut, I thought the adaptation to film was brilliant. They leaned into the things that make musicals special and used the new medium to make them as big as we could dream. This is a very special film and I can't wait to watch it a hundred times over!
