IOK movie but not too exciting.

i liked the coming of age storyline. Displayed family and societal pressures on the average teen and how support from family is what one really desires.

\rWe enjoyed the film and it was great to see Asian and Black representation. Grateful to Eddie Huang. \r\rWhile there were some nice, genuine moments, it lacked an emotional punch. I wanted to be moved, especially at the film’s climax but it just didn’t do it for me. (The “Tiger Mom” performance was just a bit harsh as well). Chalk it up to rookie mistakes but kudos to Huang and Focus for bringing this film to audiences. It’s very timely given our current racial climate and I think it will do very well. Our stories need to be heard. We will definitely recommend it.

i enjoyed it. i'd recommend it to some friends, but not all. i think it would be good for high school kids.
